background
A client in the mining sector experienced scaling issues in their reverse osmosis (RO) system due to a disruption in antiscalant supply. This posed a significant risk of membrane fouling, which could lead to costly and time-consuming replacements.
Effective antiscalant treatment was critical to maintaining operational efficiency and compliance. Water Treatment Services (WTS) worked closely with the client to understand their operating system and challenges.
solution
Feed samples were collected and analysed for cation and anion content to assess water chemistry. French Creek modelling identified gypsum and barite as the main scale species and determined the environmental conditions under which they form.
This enabled the selection of the most effective antiscalant product (WTS 4-OSMSO4) and optimal dosing range. Operational improvements, such as recommendations for the ideal pH operating range, were also provided.
WTS reviewed the site’s transport and supply chain requirements to ensure reliable delivery of treatment products.
A robust supply chain plan was implemented to ensure continuous supply of WTS 4-OSMSO4, tailored to the site’s storage capabilities.
