Background
A dairy industry manufacturer in NSW was facing significant challenges due to high nutrient levels in their aeration pond. These elevated nutrient loads meant that the water from the pond could not be adequately treated to meet the strict standards required for irrigation use. This situation posed a risk of non-compliance with the local council and EPA regulations, potentially limiting the client’s ability to reuse the water for irrigation.
Water Treatment Services (WTS) was engaged to suggest solution to reducing nutrient levels in the aeration pond. WTS visited the site and carried out test work for a week using Biotifx 13 Ultra to reduce nutrient levels.
WTS solution
WTS conducted a one-week trial using Biotifx 13 Ultra, a specialised microbial treatment designed to accelerate the breakdown of organic matter and nutrients in wastewater by enhancing natural biological processes.
The trial was conducted in the aeration pond, starting with a high dose and adjusting as needed.
External NATA lab tests showed reductions in BOD, COD, TKN, TP, and TSS.
